Senior Associate, Project Manager - Card Payments Well Managed
Team About the Role: As a Project Manager on the Card Payments Well
Managed Team, you will play a key role in the delivery of a
flawless, highly regulated customer experience using an
Enterprise-Wide infrastructure to process over $650 billion in
customer payments annually. You will leverage your project,
process, and risk management skills to help ensure we maintain
compliance with regulatory and corporate requirements. In this
role, you will work closely with Principal Associates to support
product managers, software engineers, risk, and compliance
partners, along with data teams, to monitor and maintain a
well-managed operation. On any given day you will be: Supporting
the project management lifecycle for control-related initiatives,
ensuring timely execution, clear communication, and adherence to
quality standards. Assisting in solving complex problems and
consulting on new capabilities by leveraging data and growing your
payments subject matter expertise. Executing and maintaining
payments-related processes and controls to ensure the day-to-day
delivery of key functions. Supporting the implementation of
preventive controls to minimize risk events and improve operational
efficiency. Partnering with Risk Management to identify, assess,
and mitigate potential risks involving data management and data
movement systems. Collaborating with Product Management and
Technology teams to help integrate effective controls into the
design and development of new and existing payment features.
Communicating effectively with key stakeholders to provide project
updates, share insights, and support recommendations for
improvement. Responsibilities: Control Testing & Documentation:
Supporting end-to-end testing of controls by planning and executing
required test process steps with guidance. Assisting in assessing
the operational and design effectiveness of automated, hybrid, and
manual controls. Creating and maintaining adequate testing support
documentation (BRDs, rationale, finding/issues reports). Quality &
Remediation: Identifying internal control weaknesses and
collaborating with team members to recommend remediation plans that
strengthen the control environment. Learning and performing Quality
Assurance reviews of completed test workbooks and results. Process
Improvement: Conducting research to help determine the root cause
for system and process breakdowns, identifying sustainable
enhancements, and supporting process documentation creation and
revision. Technical Integration: Learning and performing code
reviews in support of automated/hybrid controls. Project Delivery:
Managing tasks based on defined priorities; ensuring scope of
deliverables and timelines are met; identifying risks and
escalating as needed. The Successful Candidate: Has a strong bias
toward action, a willingness to learn complex processes, and a
desire to grow into a senior project leadership role. Thinks
critically, understands the big picture, and executes flawlessly
with close attention to detail. Builds strong relationships,
collaborates effectively across functions, and is a strong team
player. Leverages data and technology-driven solutions to solve
problems. Has strong project and process management skills,
including the ability to identify end-to-end impacts, track
milestones, and communicate updates. Possesses a foundational
understanding of regulatory and operational risk, process
management frameworks, and control testing methodology. Basic
Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree or military experience At least 2
years of experience in Project or Process Management At least 1
year of experience in Risk Management, Controls Testing, or
Auditing At least 1 year of experience working with analytical,
data management, or software engineering teams At least 1 year of
experience with Excel or Google Sheets Preferred Qualifications:
Master's Degree in Business, Economics, Mathematics, Engineering,
or MBA 3 years of experience in Project or Process Management 2
years of experience in Risk Controls or Auditing 1 years of
Financial Services industry experience 1 years of Technology
Project Delivery experience 1 years of experience using Jira,
Snowflake, or Databricks 1 years of experience leveraging SQL or
Python Process or Project Management certification (Scaled Agile,
Lean, PMP, or Six Sigma) At this time, Capital One will not sponsor

minimum and maximum full-time annual salaries for this role are
listed below, by location. Please note that this salary information
is solely for candidates hired to perform work within one of these
locations, and refers to the amount Capital One is willing to pay
at the time of this posting. Salaries for part-time roles will be
prorated based upon the agreed upon number of hours to be regularly
worked. McLean, VA: $96,500 - $110,100 for Sr. Project Manager
Richmond, VA: $87,700 - $100,100 for Sr. Project Manager Candidates
hired to work in other locations will be subject to the pay range
associated with that location, and the actual annualized salary
amount offered to any candidate at the time of hire will be
reflected solely in the candidate’s offer letter. This role is also
eligible to earn performance based incentive compensation, which
may include cash bonus(es) and/or long term incentives (LTI).
Incentives could be discretionary or non discretionary depending on
