national categories. About the Opportunity
Job Summary: As a Unix Operations Administrator, you will play a
critical role in maintaining and optimizing our Unix-based
infrastructure to ensure its reliability, security, and
performance. You will work closely with the IT operations team,
software developers, and other stakeholders to support our
business-critical applications and services running on Unix-based
platforms. Your technical expertise, problem-solving skills, and
ability to collaborate effectively will be essential in managing
and troubleshooting various Unix systems. Responsibilities:
System Administration:
- Perform day-to-day administration, monitoring, and maintenance
of Unix-based systems and associated services.
- Configure, install, and upgrade Unix operating systems,
ensuring proper integration with the overall IT environment.
- Implement security measures, access controls, and patch
management to protect Unix systems from vulnerabilities.
- Incident Management:
- Act as the second-level point of contact for incident
escalations related to Unix systems.
- Investigate and resolve complex issues, identifying root causes
and implementing preventive measures.
- Performance Optimization:
- Monitor system performance and identify areas for improvement
to enhance overall system efficiency.
- Tune and optimize Unix configurations and kernel parameters for
optimal application performance.
- Backup and Recovery:
- Design and maintain backup strategies and disaster recovery
procedures for Unix systems.
- Conduct periodic backup tests to ensure data integrity and
implement backup-related improvements.
- Automation and Scripting:
- Develop and maintain automation scripts for routine tasks and
system provisioning.
- Identify opportunities for process automation to streamline
operations.
- Collaboration and Documentation:
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to address system
requirements and implement changes.
- Document system configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting
steps for knowledge sharing.
- Security Compliance:
- Ensure Unix systems adhere to internal security policies and
industry best practices.
- Conduct regular security assessments and implement necessary
measures to maintain a secure environment. Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology,
or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- Proven experience (X years) as a Unix Systems Administrator or
a related role.
- Proficiency in Unix-based operating systems such as Linux,
Solaris, or AIX.
- Strong understanding of system administration, networking, and
security principles.
- Experience with virtualization technologies and
containerization (e.g., VMware, Docker, Kubernetes) is a plus.
- Scripting skills (e.g., Shell, Python, Perl) for automation and
task automation.
- Solid knowledge of storage management, backup solutions, and
disaster recovery strategies.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills with the
ability to troubleshoot complex issues.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability
to work effectively in a team environment. Qualifications
