Deputy Chief Information Officer (CIO) Lead - Department of
StateThe Position:We are looking for eager, driven candidates with
experience in people management, communication, facilitation,
problem-solving, and analysis to guide our teams in developing
impactful solutions for our Federal clients at the Department of
State. The Deputy Chief Information Officer (CIO) Lead - Department
of State will play a critical role in leveraging cutting-edge
technologies to enhance the Department of State's mission and
operations. This position requires a deep understanding of emerging
technologies, data analytics, and AI, as well as a strong ability
to apply these technologies to real-world challenges. Some of your
key responsibilities will include:Technology Strategy:
- Develop and implement a technology strategy aligned with the
Bureau's strategic goals and objectives.
- Identify and evaluate emerging technologies with potential
applications for the Bureau.
- Conduct technology assessments to identify opportunities for
improvement and innovation.Data Management and Analytics:
- Oversee the development and implementation of data governance
policies and procedures.
- Lead data analysis initiatives to extract insights and inform
decision-making.
- Utilize data visualization tools to communicate findings
effectively.Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning:
- Explore the potential of AI and machine learning to automate
tasks, improve decision-making, and enhance operational
efficiency.
- Collaborate with data scientists and engineers to develop and
deploy AI-powered solutions.
- Evaluate the ethical implications of AI and ensure responsible
and transparent use of AI technologies.Cybersecurity:
- Stay informed about the latest cybersecurity threats and
vulnerabilities.
- Work with cybersecurity experts to protect the Department's IT
infrastructure and sensitive data.
- Develop and implement cybersecurity policies and
procedures.Collaboration and Stakeholder Engagement:
- Collaborate with various departments and agencies to identify
technology needs and coordinate implementation.
- Build strong relationships with external partners, such as
technology vendors and academic institutions.
- Communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical

include:Required:
- Masters degree in computer science, engineering, data science,
or a related field.
- 10+ years of experience in technology strategy, data analytics,
and AI.
- Strong understanding of cloud computing, cybersecurity, and
data governance.
- Proven ability to lead and manage technical teams.
- Excellent problem-solving and critical thinking skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.Preferred:

- The salary range for this role is $140,000 - $180,000 depending
on experience.
- Expected travel 0-10%; may increase based on business
needs.
- This is an exempt, full-time position.
- This role is subject to a hybrid work schedule in Washington
D.C.
