Job Description:
Job Title: Mechanical Engineer Location: Hanover Maryland
Duration: 6 months Overview Mechanical Engineer will support
complex maritime engineering projects involving mechanical systems,
hydraulics, industrial automation, and electro-mechanical
components. This position combines office engineering work with
hands-on support at pier-side locations and occasional offshore
assignments. The role involves technical leadership, engineering
analysis, documentation development, and coordination across
multidisciplinary teams. This position is ideal for an engineer
experienced in mechanical or ocean-deployed systems who thrives in
both design and real-world operational environments. Key
Responsibilities Conduct advanced engineering analysis and apply
design methodologies to complex mechanical projects. Lead
interdisciplinary teams consisting of engineers, drafters,
technicians, and technical writers. Track engineering progress,
evaluate results, and ensure technical accuracy of deliverables.
Manage and oversee project tasks with moderate scope and
complexity. Estimate resources needed to meet technical and
scheduling objectives. Approve engineering products and ensure they
meet technical and customer requirements Develop test procedures,
conduct testing, analyze data, and prepare documentation. Â
Communicate with customer or stakeholder representatives to clarify
expectations. Support proposal efforts by providing cost estimates,
technical approach input, and schedule details. Travel domestically
or internationally, including participation in shipboard operations
and sea trials. Perform additional engineering duties as assigned.
Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Ocean
Engineering, or related field. 5-10 years of technical engineering
experience in concept development, analysis, design, drafting,
integration, and testing of complex mechanical and/or
ocean-deployed systems. Minimum 2 years of experience leading
multi-disciplinary design teams. Proven ability to lead technical
groups and interact effectively with stakeholders. Proficiency with
engineering design tools such as SolidWorks, MATLAB, and standard
office software. Â Strong knowledge of mechanical engineering
principles and familiarity with adjacent engineering disciplines.
Ability to work closely with electrical, software, and systems
engineers to architect integrated systems. Ability to work
independently with accountability for results and sound judgment on
when to seek support. Ability to obtain a U.S. Government security
clearance. (Active clearance preferred but not required.) Preferred
Qualifications Advanced degree in Mechanical, Ocean, or related
engineering disciplines. Strong technical judgment, creativity, and
attention to detail. Excellent communication skills, including
technical writing and documentation. Experience in maritime
operations, shipboard systems, cargo handling, crane operations, or
port environments. Knowledge of naval replenishment operations or
maritime logistics (preferred). Hands-on skills in mechanical
assembly and troubleshooting Work Conditions Hybrid role with
substantial onsite presence. Approximately 50% office-based and 50%
pier-side or field-based work. Offshore operations may require
extended hours (approx. 50 hours/week). Occasional one-week
