Reporting Analyst The Virginia Department of Labor and Industry
(DOLI) is seeking dynamic and experienced professional to serve as
a Financial Reporting Analyst . This full-time position is based in
our Headquarters Office located in Richmond, VA . Through your
actions as a member of the Business Services team, you will help
save lives and prevent injuries in the workplace. You will
collaborate across Business Services and with Regulatory Programs’
leadership and staff to support efforts to cultivate a culture of
safety and accountability through administrative and financial
support of the Agency. You will ensure full compliance with all
applicable state and federal rules and regulations, laws, and

. What will you do? • Perform detail-oriented internal audits in
compliance with the Commonwealth Accounting Policies and Procedures
(CAPP), agency guidelines, policies and procedures across all
organizational levels. • Develop and maintain desktop policies and
procedures for core responsibilities and recommend efficiency
improvements across functions. • Monitor grant activities ensuring
compliance with state and federal guidelines and lead federal audit
process in applicable years • Track and ensure compliance of
monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting activities including
required central agency submissions, forecasting, analysis,
fluctuations, modifications, and recommendations, as well as
monitoring agency grants and contracts compliance with state and
federal requirements. • Analyze legislative impact on budgetary and
compliance requirements. • Support general accounting functions and
assist with inventory reconciliation & reporting. • Provide ongoing
attention to the development and maintenance of adequate internal
controls. What will you bring? • Effective verbal and written
communication skills with a demonstrated ability to compose
meaningful and accurate narrative reports and correspondence. •
Practical knowledge and demonstrated ability to use personal
computers and the Microsoft office suite of applications. •
Effective time management and organizational skills. • Ability to
establish and maintain excellent interpersonal relationships. •
Working knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles and
practices. • Considerable knowledge of the principles of internal
audit procedures, budget development/management, state
appropriation process, financial reporting, federal grant
administration including cash management, general/state accounting
policies, procedures and systems, and/or reconciliation
processes/procedures. Minimum Qualifications • Demonstrated
experience in governmental or financial accounting environments
servicing a variety of fiscal needs. • Demonstrated ability to
solve complex stakeholder problems. • Demonstrated ability to meet
deadlines; analyze data and solve complex problems. • Demonstrated
ability to work collaboratively with others as well as
independently. • Extensive experience with automated spreadsheets.
Ability to develop and/or maintain databases, charts and reports. •
Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate verbally and in
writing Additional Considerations • Demonstrated knowledge and
application of occupational safety and health; and federal and
state regulations related to occupational safety and health. •
Demonstrated knowledge and application of Commonwealth Accounting
Policy and Procedures (CAPP). • Experience in governmental policies
and procedures related to travel regulations, account payable,
expenditure reimbursement, inventory or fixed assets. • Ability to
exercise discretion and maintain confidentiality. • Experience in
applying administrative and office procedures and practices to
include records management procedures. • Certification in
accounting, business, finance or related curriculum. Considerable
experience in budget development/management, financial
reporting/analysis/forecasting, federal grants administration, cash
management, and reconciliation. Extensive knowledge and experience
working in state government accounting/finance/administrative
environment. Experience working in an automated environment
required. Certification may be substituted with experience. CPA
Certification is desirable. Special Requirements: • Ability to
travel overnight occasionally. • Ability to perform moderate
physical activity that includes, but is not limited to, climbing
stairs and ladders, bending, walking up and down inclines,
occasionally lifting and carrying loads up to 30 pounds, etc. • The
selected candidate must pass a criminal background investigation,
and successfully serve a 12-month probationary period effective
from the date of employment if beginning employment as an original
