About the Company and Opportunity: Our client is a very unique non-profit organization in business for 50 years! Due to significant growth, they are looking to bring on a Staff Accountant to work on a contract-to-hire basis This organization boasts incredible benefits (fully paid health insurance, generous PTO, great retirement perks, and a pension) as well as fantastic retention of employees They also provide free lunch to their employees every day! Schedule: 8 am-5 pm M-F, 100% in office in Linthicum, MD. Hours can be flexible depending on the candidate's needs Reports directly to the Accounting Manager Job Duties: Maintain assigned general ledger accounts Perform bank reconciliations monthly and handles inquiries from banks Reconcile cash disbursement accounts, payroll, customer accounts, and other financial accounts Verify accounts payable invoices are paid and ensure payments are charged to the proper accounts Assist auditors by gathering necessary documents in order to complete the annual audit Coordinate with the software vendors to maintain accounting software systems and recommend updates to enhance the accounting software Accurately prepare tax reports Assist with payroll as needed Performs other related duties as assigned Qualifications for the Staff Accountant: Bachelor's degree in accounting or a related field is highly preferred 3 years of accounting experience required Non-profit experience is highly preferred Experience using Microsoft Dynamics Great Plains is a plus Proficient Excel skills required Strong knowledge of GAAP Knowledge of general financial and cost accounting Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
