Job Description:

Segra is searching for a dynamic and experienced Capital Projects and Fixed Asset Accountant to work within our Kansas City, MO market. Based on the manager's evaluation of candidate experience and competency, we are open to hiring for this role at various levels.
The Capital Projects and Fixed Asset Accountant will be responsible for:

• 
  
• Overseeing the accounting and financial management of capital projects as well as managing the lifecycle of fixed assets.
  
• Manage the tracking and accounting for capital projects, ensuring that costs are properly allocated and capitalized in accordance with company policies and industry standards
  
• Ensure that all capital projects costs, including labor, materials and overheads are correctly captured and capitalized
  
• Monitor and track construction in progress (CIP/WIP) accounting ensuring accurate reporting and timely transfer of capitalized costs to fixed assets once projects are completed
  
• Oversee the capitalization of fixed assets acquired through capital projects
  
• Maintain and update the fixed asset register with accurate information on asset acquisitions, disposals, transfers and adjustments.
  
• Calculate and ensure the accurate recording of depreciation
  
• Prepare reconciliation of the fixed asset ledger, ensuring all transactions are recorded and accurately reflected and properly classified
  
• Generate and provide fixed assets reports including asset additions, disposals and impairment.
  
• Oversee the process of asset disposals, ensuring assets are properly returned and that any retirement proceeds are accurately recorded
  
• Collaborate with operations, project management, engineering and construction teams to understand project progress and ensure proper capitalization of assets.
  
  Additional Preferred Skills:

  • 
    4 years of capital project accounting and fixed asset management, with a preference for experience in the telecommunications industry.
    
    
  • 
    Strong knowledge of capital expenditure accounting, asset capitalization and deprecation
    
    
  • 
    Ability to analyze large volumes of financial data
    
    
  • 
    Attention to detail, organization skills and time management
    
    
  • 
    Experience with telecommunications infrastructure, network equipment and related assets
    
    
  • 
    Understanding of telecom industry project lifecycle
    
    
    Education:
    
    • 
      
    • A Bachelor's degree in accounting is preferred. A Bachelor's degree in finance or similar concentration is acceptable. i
      
    • A CPA is a plus but not required.
